Coniston Priory (Ulverston)

A destination with a difference. The priory was founded by Augustinian monks in 1160 as a hospital for the poor, now being used for tours around this building is steeped in history. Also visit the Buddhist temple in the same grounds to learn more about different culture. The grounds of the priory are also stunning and very tranquil. This is an interesting and exciting stop.
Hill Top House , Beatrix Potter (Sawrey nr Hawkshead)

The much loved Beatrix Potter recently made into a Hollywood blockbuster with the much loved Renee Zelweger playing the part of Miss Potter. This is the house that Beatrix once lived and where she was thought to have created so many of her most famous books and characters. This is a interesting house and is steeped in history and is a must see for anyone whether they be fans of Peter Rabbit or are interested in the local history.
